Help me give my students the opportunity to experience the San Diego zoo in a way not many can say they have. Students will be upfront and personal with several animals they might never see besides this trip.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
What do I want to do with my life? What careers are possible in animal agriculture for me? These are questions that I hear in my animal science class.
I want to give these students an opportunity to participate in hands on activities involving veterinary procedures creating a digital videos of them educating others on the procedures.
The students on this campus live in a area of crop production, their families work in the fields and these students might end up working in the fields themselves. But I want to introduce these students to other career opportunities in animal agriculture. These students are not involved in animal agriculture and I want to give these students hands on ideas of what it takes to be a veterinarian.
My students are full of energy and life for anything animal science related they want to be involved in careers involving animal science but have not seen the many possibilities. This trip would open there eyes to at least 20 jobs involving animal agriculture.
My Project
The students in my Veterinary Science class learn about several different animal species and caring for animals. We also cover possible career opportunities they might not have every considered.
Being able to attend the Roar & Snore at the San Diego Safari Park gives my students the opportunity to see first hand career possibilities they could have and the animals they could work with.
I attended this trip 3 years ago and students who attended still talk about what a great opportunity it was and it encouraged them to look into a speciality animal field of veterinary science instead of just small animals which is a popular choice now a day.
