My Students

Why Don't We Have Computers in our Classroom? The students in our rural, one-stoplight town would love to integrate technology in our classroom. At the moment, we have no student computers in our classroom.

I have 120 students that travel in-and-out of my classroom each day, and they are the most intuitive, creative and engaged students a teacher would want to teach.

This group of rural students from Oklahoma is educated in a school that is very old, which many of their great-great grandparents attended, but never allow lack of materials to inhibit our learning environment.

My Project

Technology would open so many doors for my students. When reading a novel from a Brazilian poet, my students wanted to research the Brazilian culture, music, and geography; however, I couldn't provide students with this technology. Also, students would be able to use the Chromebooks to create an interactive journal to share their writing, poetry, and thoughts with individuals outside of our rural town. We could attend webinars, interact with experts in professional fields, and widen our perspective that there is a GREAT BIG WORLD to explore! The sky is the limit!!

I will incorporate the Chromebooks into our everyday learning environment IMMEDIATELY!

Together students, who have limited support and resources, and I will use this technology to experience authentic learning...not just textbooks. I will serve as a facilitator allowing students to guide our learning. I can just imagine the look on my students' face when I bring technology into our classroom!! Going from NO student computers to 5 Chromebooks...PRICELESS!!
