My Students

Do you remember what it was like the first time you read a book that you couldn't put down? My students have not yet discovered books that capture their imaginations, but they have also not yet met Roald Dahl.

Over 95% of our students receive free lunches and half of our students are bussed.

For most of my students, school is their safe haven where they are guaranteed a meal and love. Our school is dedicated to giving each student the opportunity to receive a first class education. I strive to create a learning atmosphere where my students are comfortable to ask questions and be creative. They strive to become great readers and writers; with ambition and curiosity they approach new skills everyday. Despite the odds that are stacked against them, they rise.

My Project

I am requesting class sets of Roald Dahl books so as a class we can read together and work on group projects. Author studies and reading books are extremely important for students to improve in literacy. Students need direct comprehension instruction in a variety of ways and using a variety of texts to become better readers, make connections between texts and themselves, become aware of how comprehension strategies work, and use them. If you support our project you will be helping my students succeed. Roald Dahl is one of the best selling authors of all time and his books are loved by children all over the world. They are well written, humorous and very entertaining. Children break free from their cruel oppressors (adults :)) and go on to have the most amazing adventures. Goodness triumphs; revenge is sweet; evil is punished. Help my students unlock their imagination and take an adventure through the joy of reading!
