Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are 3rd, 4th and 5th graders who are in their first or second year in the U.S. Most of them come from third-world countries where education isn’t a priority. I teach them Science and Social Studies in their native language (Spanish), hoping to meet them where they are and help them succeed academically. Most of my students come from low income households, but this shouldn’t limit their learning opportunities. They are happy and excited to be in a safe learning environment!

My Project

Many of the materials from this project will be used to organize and update the classroom for the new year. The organization rack will help me keep myself organized with the 3 grades and 2 subjects I teach. The laptop desk cart will allow me to teach using my google classroom and move around the room at the same time. We are excited for new indoor lights to create a more relaxed environment. My special needs students will benefit so much from this! The classroom organization and environment sets the tone and if students like where they are, they begin to enjoy learning more! Many times when a classroom is remodeled, students feel motivated and inspired! It has been difficult keeping them motivated after being home for so long, so I realized that we might benefit from a little makeover!

This project will allow my students to have everything they need to learn on a day to day basis.

Our classroom pencil sharpener broke recently and is needed tremendously. Crayons, markers, scissors and glue sticks are used often to make learning more engaging and fun! Many of my students don’t have the resources to buy their own supplies, therefore I always like to have them accessible in the classroom. Since Covid, masks and disinfecting wipes have also made the supply list and will be very useful to have in our classroom. Our children deserve to be in a safe, clean and healthy environment!
