My Students

My students and I live in a very rural area with only one elementary school in our district. Many of these students come from low-income families and our school is able to receive free lunch and breakfast for all students through a grant. In addition, many of our students receive food bags on Fridays to ensure that they have enough to eat over the weekend. My students are amazing and come to school eager to learn. I want to be able to provide them with the most exciting and helpful learning opportunities that I can.

My Project

Kids need high quality books to read! This novel contains such rich examples of theme, character change, setting, conflict, foreshadowing, flashback, and figurative language. Having a copy in each child’s hand will allow them to dig into our standards with a high quality book. I want them to fall in love with reading and high quality books are the best way to achieve this goal. I can already hear the deep discussions this book will bring into our classroom and I can’t wait to see my students grow in their love of reading and discussing their ideas with each other.
