My students are the best! They are eager to learn and more importantly, expecting to learn as they walk through the doors of my classroom. As second graders, they are coming to me with great foundation skills in reading, writing, and math, but I want to enhance and develop these skills into ones that will make them great members of society one day. Through this project I expect to see a continues love of learning and flourishing abilities in STEAM.
The dynamics of my class are vast and encompass many different backgrounds.
I hope that through STEAM activities, there is bonding that will unify our class and create a culture that mimics a family.
My Project
Through STEAM Morning Tubs, my students will be able to get their creative juices flowing first thing in the morning. As they come in my classroom, they will be greeted by a warm smile and morning tubs to choose from. In each tub, they will find materials and task cards to create masterpieces! Students will work together using the magnetic tiles, Bananagrams game, Kynex, dominoes, and Tinker Toys to complete the task cards in each tub. Once completed, students will complete a different task card from the same box. Each morning students will choose different tubs and different friends to work with, thus building diverse friendships and skills. The shelf, plastic tubs, and timer will help keep materials organized and our day on a schedule so we don't lose any valuable transition time.
My class will use mathematic and scientific skills to complete tasks which will also tie into the standards I will be teaching every day.

These morning tubs will also foster great communication skills and organizational skills as students work together to create and clean up materials in a timely manner. These tubs can also be used as early finisher activities or indoor recess activities! It's a win-win!
