This year, I am lucky enough to teach 24 wonderful and unique 2nd grade students. Their varied backgrounds, experiences, and interests have created an exciting and diverse class community. Although not all of them have access to many learning tools or experiences outside of the classroom, they still come to school each day curious and ready to learn.
My students are hardworking, caring, hilarious, determined, and strong.
I love that they will work hard to make sure that nobody gets left out. I love that they are so interested in their learning that they don't want to stop their conversations. I love that they are all willing to put in the effort every single day, despite all of the challenges they face, to continue to learn and grow. I love this class and believe they deserve the tools to help them learn in their own unique ways.
The first experience students have in the classroom each morning typically sets the tone for the rest of the day. If students come in and are asked to do worksheets or busy work, they most likely won't be as engaged and ready to learn as they could be. I would love to provide my students with morning STEM/Project bins to give them the chance to start each day off on the right foot.
All children crave play and learn best with hands on experience.
Providing my students with these morning bins will get their minds working in a natural and enjoyable way. I am requesting a variety of different materials such as building kits, design projects, brain teaser activities, and the bins to store them all in.
I believe that providing my students with a choice of engaging activities to start their day with will allow them all to do something they are good at and enjoy doing. My goal is for each of my students to come in on a positive note every day so that they can truly shine.
