Celebrating Black History Month

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach brilliant, determined sixth graders in a Title I school in Chicago.

My students are filled with curiosity and love learning with hands-on materials.

Although my students face adversity, they continue to be resilient in and out of the classroom. My scholars crave highly engaging content and are always looking to learn something new.

My goal, as their teacher, is to expose them to opportunities that will help them grow and achieve greatness.

My Project

This year, my students read "The Lightning Thief" and fell in LOVE with the world of Percy Jackson. Ever since we finished, they have been begging me to read the second book. When I was their age, I also read the Percy Jackson series and became obsessed with the world that Riordan creates.

I would love to gift each of my students the second book in the series to get them hooked on the books and fall in love with reading!
