This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are awesome! I teach at a Philadelphia Public School that qualifies for Title I funding. My entire class qualifies for free breakfast and lunch. Most of my students live in a single parent household and some of them are being cared for by a foster family or extended family members.
Despite the challenges my students face, they come each day with a great attitude.
Many of them have faced hardships that you would never want any child to ever experience. I provide a safe, nurturing environment where kids can learn and progress.
My Project
My students are in need of school supplies and materials for the remainder of the school year. Most of the notebooks are full and the pencils and crayons need restocking. We also need a few more scissors so students don't have to sit and wait for each other. We don't mind sharing but would like our time to be as productive as possible. The colored paper allows us to give our finished projects a more exciting look.
My students have been hard at work this school year; however, we are in need of basic supplies to continue our hard work and make learning fun!
The supplies requested in this project will allow us to start the second half of the school year with the supplies and materials we need but many of our parents can not afford to replenish.
