Fourth grade is always an adventure! We never know where our learning will take us. In our room, we're always looking for ways to meet the learning styles of kinesthetic, visual, audio, and logical learning. By the end of the school year, I want my students to see the value of learning something new and embrace the love of lifelong learning.
Our class is made up of 24 kind​, creative students who are eager to learn new material.
This year, my students have really worked towards persevering through difficult tasks. This is our favorite quote: "Be like a postage stamp, stick to something until you get there!" - Josh Billings.
My Project
My project is for classroom supplies that will help them dive into the New Year. I have a very sweet group of fourth graders and they love writing encouraging notes to each other. I usually keep Post-It notes on my desk and my students are always asking for one. Later in the day, I find that they have written an encouraging note to a classmate. I have seen notes saying, "You are smart", "I like your mask", and "I know you are having a hard day. Do you want to play with me during recess?" I even have received a few encouraging notes. They leave notes for each other on their desk, in their locker, and in their book boxes. It is such a wonderful activity and brings many smiles to my students. Part of this project is for Post-It sticky notes for my entire class.
My students would use the sticky notes to write encouraging notes to each other and help them stay organized.
The second part of my project is for a class subscription to Flocaburary. Flocaburary is an online subscription. This subscription would give me access to standards based videos. I would definitely use these videos to reinforce basic math fact knowledge. The online library has over 900 videos, hip hop songs, and activities that will spark their creativity.
