My students need 24 dry erase boards, 64 markers, and 20 erasers so that we aren't wasting so much paper in the classroom.

Kids want to save the earth! I teach Fifth Grade in Iowa. The students in our district are from a low socio-economic as well as having a high number of kids on free/reduced lunches.

My Fifth Grade class is in charge of recycling paper in our building. We collect the paper each Tuesday morning. Recently, the students commented on the fact that we sure do waste a lot of paper. I asked them what we could do to alleviate that situation.

They brainstormed and came up with some great ideas. One of the ideas was for each student to have their own dry erase board, markers, and erasers. In this way, we aren't using paper all of the time. We are using non-toxic markers that erase. I can check student work in a group setting and save the environment all at the same time.
