Rigby Reading Rocks!

Help me give my students books that foster their love of reading with Rigby leveled readers that use carefully controlled text and text features which gradually increases in difficulty to help students increase their reading ability quickly and effectively.

My Students

We are a school driven by kindness, acceptance, and inclusion of all students. We are a melting pot of ethnicity, ability, and needs. All students are engaged, challenged and motivated to learn and succeed.

I teach in a second-grade special education inclusion classroom at a Title I school in Hawaii.

Students in my class have a variety of needs and challenges. Each student comes with a variety of strengths and needs. Many of them struggle with disabilities that place them at a disadvantage. Often times, students benefit from many hands-on experiences to help solidify concepts that are taught as well as express their creativity.

My Project

Students in an inclusion classroom arrive to class with reading challenges that put them at a disadvantage. Not only do they have to access the grade-level content but they also increase their reading skills and abilities to grade level. We currently have a small collection of Rigby readers in our classroom which has helped students learn to love reading as they see their skills soar.

Adding these books to our collection will allow students additional practice at every level and lead to an increased rate of success.

Students will be able to practice more at each level and solidify their skills before moving on to the next level.
