Ms. Greenblatt from Tampa FL is requesting computers & tablets through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need tablets to be able to do short term research projects on a variety of social studies and science topics.

My students are pulled in small groups for extra reading comprehension. A lot of the books in the series that I use are normally completed within a week but I like to expand the activities. To do so I need for them to be able to access the internet. There are laptop carts at my school but they are assigned to specific grades and it is impossible to borrow them. I would like to have a set of tablets that they would be able to access anytime they're with me. They would be housed in my office which is always locked. I'm excited about this project because I will be able to guide the kids to learn more about a variety of topics that they might not necessarily get to learn until higher grades.
Kids are endlessly curious and fascinated by everything. They want to know more than just surface-level knowledge about things -- they want to go deep. These tablets will enable my students, when I pull them in their small groups, to be able to research many different topics like social studies and science beyond what is covered in the text that we use. For example, one of the books in the series is about the body. Using these tablets, my students will be able to research the many different systems of the body rather than just the three that are featured in the book. They will be able to use the tablets to create a short-term research report or presentations to share with the group. When these students learn a new topic that interests them, they ask endless questions. I want them to be able to find the answers.
