My school is in an inner city setting where many of the families struggle with income. Their parents work morning and night shifts therefore do not experience a fulfilling family time. They are often left with a TV as the only means of recreation. Their parents have limited resources .
The children in my classroom have limited outdoor time and use of gross motor play items.
Many of the families are afraid to go outside due to violence in their community. Pre-school children love to run, play, and ride outside while also developing spatial awareness.
These tricycles will be used in our indoor playroom to provide children with the opportunity to learn how to peddle and enjoy gross motor skills.
Many of the children do not own a tricycle of their own or have the chance to go outside and ride in the neighborhoods that they live in.
Preschoolers need to explore and develop their gross motor skills. Please help them achieve the satisfaction of learning to peddle a tricycle so that later they will graduate to bicycles. Bicycles are becoming a staple in the inner cities to get around and the need to learn how to ride one starts at an early age.
