Help me give my students Firestix, light-up drum sticks, to make their programs, rhythm practice and drumming even more of a lasting memory as a part of their musical experience.
My students know that music is a safe place to explore, create and shine. In any given class on any given day, you will open the door to walk into a room to see diverse learners, from all different backgrounds, with many different exceptionalities. Kind words, encouraging actions and positive attitudes are the basis of our growing musical atmosphere.
I teach a wide range of learners with diverse needs who are full of energy and a love for music.
With the state of our education in Oklahoma, our needs have increased within our classrooms. My students love to sing, move and create music. With students from varying backgrounds, I make sure each student knows they are cared for and their individual capabilities are special. Our school focuses on the Seven Habits of Happy Kids, helping to shape leaders who will change the world they live in, no matter where they come from.
My Project
I was made aware of these light-up drum sticks at a conference. Since then I have been dreaming of ways to use them. I have planned to incorporate the light-up drum sticks with our Drums Alive curriculum. I also am wanting to use them in an upcoming performance with my fifth graders.
I think the light-up sticks will help every kid find excitement about getting involved in music class.
I cannot wait to upgrade our rhythm sticks to these new ones. I look forward to making music the best part of every child's day. I know that these will aid in making musical memories for our students' whole lives.
