The students at our school range from grades K-4. In music class students have the opportunity to sing, move, and use classroom instruments such as rhythm sticks, guiros, and more to work on skills such as rhythm, beat, melody, and creating songs in collaborative groups. The students also have the opportunity to perform in chorus and band. In addition, there is a free after school strings program run by a local performance studio. In addition, many of our students are taking part in a morning enrichment program. During this challenging time of learning remotely, my students will be without any supplies to learn music at home. I would like to be able to send them the classroom instruments as mentioned above so they can be as successful as possible. In addition, when we return to in-school classes and students will not be able to share materials, students will now have their own supplies.
My Project
Rhythm instruments help children learn how to explore musical concepts in a hands-on and collaborative way. This year the challenge is enormous as my students will not have access to musical supplies while remote learning.
These supplies will be sent home to students so they can participate in remote learning music classes.
In addition, these materials will be utilized when in-class learning resumes, providing individual instruments that students will not have to share. The use of these materials will help all students learn and be successful in music in a safe way!
