Our students come from various socioeconomic backgrounds and live both in the city and the country in our small rural community. The children are either age 3 or 4 and many times this is their first school experience or their first time away from home or family.
Our school is a Pre-K-1st building and I am proud to say we are like a family.
Our parents are supportive of the teaching staff by volunteering of their time to help in the classrooms.
My Project
My students learn best through hands-on play. This hands-on play is developmentally appropriate and has the best outcomes for my students. By offering them activities like the Ladybug Stones and activity cards I can help with their math skills while still making learning fun.
The Fairytales Story Telling Set offers the students a chance to recreate nursery rhymes as well as fostering imaginations.
Literacy is so important and with children being able to act out and create well known (as well as their own stories) their literacy experiences are enriched.
All of the items I have requested like the dinosaur bones, animal skin matching and life cycles puzzles will help my students better connect to the topics I am teaching.
