My school is a very diverse Title One school located in Newton, Massachusetts, a suburb of Boston. We have students from kindergarten through grade 5. We have a large population of English language learners coming from a variety of backgrounds. We are a full inclusion school where all students are part of a classroom community.
My 3rd grade students are kind, helpful, and always encouraging one another.
They love to learn new things and share new ideas with each other. My students read at a variety of levels and I am trying to add to my classroom library to reach all learners.
In reader's workshop, we have implemented a mini unit in Poetry and another unit on fairy tales. I only have a few books with poems. Students are loving the ones I have and always ask for more. I would like to build my classroom library with some poetry books and a few more fairy tales. I want students to continue to laugh with books and learn the elements of poetry with humorous poems that children enjoy.
Your generous donation will help to provide poetry and fairy tale books for students who love to read them.
My hope is to have enough poetry books that each student can browse through a poetry book at the same time. This will allow the poetry unit to reach all students and they can share their love of books with classmates.
