Rhymes are all around us. In songs, books and poems. As a kindergarten teacher in a title one school I am faced with the challenge of teaching my students all the goals and objectives by myself. Some skills are easy for my students to grasp, while others tend to be more difficult.
This year my students have had a difficult time learning rhyming words.
I have tried books and songs but they just are not grasping the concepts. My students learn much better with hands on materials. These centers and games will allow my students to play in a hands on environment to help them learn about rhyming words.The resources that I am asking will allow my students to sort objects based on the rhyming sound they make. I am also asking for beginning and ending sound boxes. All these centers will benefit my students because they will be practicing reading, writing and speaking different rhyming sounds until they master the concept.
My Project
With your help and support you can help my students become successful at rhyming. My students will be able to identify rhymes in stories and songs as well as come up with rhymes on their own after practicing these skills with all these materials. These materials will also build essential vocabulary which is lacking in so many kids.
The phonemic awareness boxes are another way to reinforce the skills and allow little hands to learn by touching.
