This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The students in our Title 1 middle school are energetic, technology-centered, and focused on learning mathematics in a positive environment with learning tools to build math connections. Our interactive lessons and projects will benefit each student enrolled in our 6th, 7th & 8th grade sections.
Our focus is to engage the entire child in the realization that they are in control of their learning through individual self-improvement, and building empathy towards our local and global community.
My Project
At Northview Middle School we use Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) rewards for students. Instead of focusing on the negative actions of students, our focus is increasing individual responsibility by rewarding and recognizing the positive actions that students exhibit in our classrooms and our school. Students earn Falcon Bucks for a multitude of positive actions, respectful language, and helping keep school safe..
With your help, students will be able to purchase awesome prizes (Legos, Fidgets, Pens/Markers, Water bottles with stickers, and more) with their PBIS Falcon Bucks and increase the number of prizes available for purchase and raffle (Teachers are currently buying prizes out of our own pockets.
Falcon Bucks are earned when students exhibit Respectful, Responsible and Safe actions in the hallway, in our classrooms, or anywhere else in the school. Every teacher is able to give these rewards bucks. Students are excited to earn these Falcon Bucks and save them until they can purchase a reward of their choosing. Right now, our teacher purchased rewards are minimal, stale and boring (pencils, erasers, composition books), but with your help, BORING prizes will be a thing of the past.
