This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The students at our school are amazing children. I am fortunate to be a teacher at this school. We are in a low-income school and some of my students may not have the same opportunities that many other children might have. These students have demonstrated resiliency and an eagerness to learn even though many have experienced difficult challenges in their lives.
I want to inspire my students to be curious and creative learners.
I want them to look forward to their learning opportunities. I want my students to know that school is a place they can try their ideas and grow.
My Project
Help me recognize my students' hard work and efforts this school year with certificates, ribbons, citizenship medals, a few very much desired trophies and book incentives.
I want my students to feel proud of their accomplishments and know their community is proud of them too!
Many of my students do not have the financial ability or transportation available to participate in activities such as youth sports. Academic achievement is an opportunity for them to shine and show the world what they can do. I'd like to show them that their efforts at school are valued and something they can be proud of.
Last year I awarded my top readers with Dog Man books and students worked very hard to win a book. This year my class has a higher percentage of girls, so I'd like to also offer the Owl Diaries books as an incentive. I would like to also recognize achievement in math, overall honor roll recipients and citizenship. I feel that if we invest in and get excited about these achievements it will help the students see them as valuable as well.
