Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are comprised of twelve, four and five-year-olds who are creative, spontaneous and excited about their first year of school. They also love to interact with their friends during outside play. Some of the students in my classroom are students with learning, physical and emotional disabilities.
Most of my students come from low-income households and in some cases, the materials I like to provide for them at school are the only ones they have in their lives.
Our school community is a warm and friendly place where the children thrive to learn.
This year the children are as enthusiastic as ever; they have already made many friends. My goal for them is that they can build relationships in a classroom where they can feel safe and right at home. I would like to have intentional materials handy to be able to keep them engaged throughout the day and be better equipped to enter kindergarten next year!
Our school is an awesome place where the children feel like they are part of a community. As much as the school would love to provide the children with what they need in the classroom, there are many needs throughout the school.
My Project
These items will help fill a classroom with materials that will motivate children to be kind to one another and to use good choices throughout the day. What better way to motivate little ones who are driven by technology and are so savvy on smart devices and iPads? I am amazed how well they can navigate their way through those devises. I want to encourage kindness in my room using a rewards system with a device none of them have, a Nintendo Switch. They have all seen commercials about it and even have some family members that may have one, but are never allowed to use. I want to reward them on Fun Fridays to use it and enjoy the game when they earn kindness points. The pattern blocks are also a great way for them to build and create with shapes which they love to do.
Give these children an out of this world kindness reward!
