This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I am the very proud teacher of 24 lovely third and fourth grade students at Cleveland Elementary School located in Washington, DC.
Although considered a low income school, my students are high achievers. I have had the pleasure of teaching this group of students for the past three years. These kids are involved in a dual language program in which they are learning to speak Spanish fluently. They are instructed in all subject areas in both languages.
My students are very hard workers, most making honor roll every quarter. They consistently go above and beyond to excel academically and I would like to reward them accordingly.
I would like to show my students how very proud I am and encourage them to keep up the good work by giving them fun incentives. My proposal entails rewarding students for outstanding citizenship and academics by having such things as: "fun day", where the kids would play board games and "movie day", where they would watch a movie in the classroom. I would also like to be able to issue certificates, pencils, or some other little token of appreciation for all of their hard work.
In order to achieve this, I am requesting six DVDs, seven board games, a set of pencils, coupons, stickers, a chest of toys, bookmarks and certificates.
I am very proud of my students' dedication to learning and believe that they deserve to be rewarded. Thank you for considering my proposal.
