Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are in a very unique school district. We have over 2,400 students in our High School. Our district is a Title I school and it is in a low-income and high crime-rate area.

The location of our district does not define our high school students, rather their unique abilities and achievements do.

Our students are hard-working and they create goals that they achieve. Our students are resilient, they are able to take their individual circumstance and use it to fuel their ambition. Our students are proud.... they are strong.... they are brave.. and most importantly, they do not give up.

My Project

Our students are faced with many obstacles both inside and outside of school. Some are helping to raise their siblings and some are working many hours to help their family with expenses.

They are challenged to be successful while finding a balance between home, school and work.

I would like to use amazon gift cards to reward those students who are following school-wide expectations, maintaining sufficient grades, and who are role models for others. I want to gift them with the opportunity to treat themselves to something of their choosing.

My hope is that reinforcing positive behavior will encourage students to continue on the same path and that others will follow suite.
