Our kindergarten students love recess, but it’s hard to play basketball with a flat ball, throw a broken Frisbee, build towers with torn cardboard bricks, or play soccer without goals. The kids enjoy playing with all the toys, even if they are old and broken. So I know they will be beyond excited if new items are donated! These recess toys have been used for many years and it’s time for a upgrade for our students! If you are willing and able to help out, the kids would be very grateful for the new playground equipment!

My Project
Students need recess time to take a mental break and release their energy. While recess is a time to be outside, socialize and have fun, it is also a time to learn and improve skills. In kindergarten, students are still developing their large muscles and recess is the perfect time to work on those gross and fine motor skills.
Our students have done great with being creative with the equipment we have now.
Students will throw a flat basketball instead of dribble it, make brick roads instead of towers, and use the fence as a soccer goal. They make what we have work for them but we know they deserve toys that don't fall apart each time they use them.
Students can work on throwing and catching as well as kicking and dribbling with the new balls. I am also asking for hula hoops, dance ribbons, and scoop ball to help with movement and coordination. We always put out other activities for the students to play with, such as bristle blocks, cardboard building bricks, and play food. These items are constantly breaking causing the supply to get low. We are very fortunate to have all of the equipment we do, but it is old and in need of replacement.
