Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school has approximately 1700 students, and over 75% receive free or reduced-price lunch. Our school is the most diverse traditional high school in our region with students speaking over 70 language. For most of our students, English is a second language, and for many, reading in English only takes place at school.
The nearly 1700 students in my Title I high school deserve a collection of books that reflect them and inspire them to dream bigger, and our dedicated and enthusiastic English teachers deserve books that they are excited to share with students.
My Project
There are three things I am asking for today:
1) A class set of headphones: In giving writing feedback, I have the ability to record individual notes for each student.
I will use a class set of headphones to ensure that each student has access to listening to instructional videos, audiobooks, and my spoken feedback.
2) An organizer to keep headphones in: I always need help staying organized, and this numbered organizer will help me keep track of resources in our classroom.
3) Reusable dry erase poster papers: We use giant sticky notes in class all of the time, and I love that if we own these, we won't have to a new set of expensive poster-sized sticky notes every couple of months! These will encourage collaboration.
