A typical day in our classroom includes: daily whole group, small group, and individual reading instruction. Students are encouraged to discover new concepts, use deeper level thinking, and develop critical thinking skills.
My students are a hardworking, eager, and enthusiastic group of boys and girls in first grade.
They each have their own unique personalities, strengths, and backgrounds, and we love being able to learn and grow from one another. We are in a public K-5 school in a middle class Midwest town of 100,000 people.
My Project
We currently have a lot of reading games and skill-building activities that can be used more than once. Many of these activities are created by the students, or the teacher and students together. Using a laminator will prolong the life of our pages, and students will be able to reuse them many times with the use of a wipe-off pen. Students also create books, and laminating the cover would enable students to preserve these treasures for years to come.
Students will be able to keep reading lessons, skill activities and games, and other reading pages in good condition.
Students will be able to create books that will stay in good condition to share with their families and friends at home. Students' reading and writing abilities will improve with daily practice.
