For the past five years I have worked at a truly amazing middle school in the heart of New Castle County Delaware, and I have loved every minute of it. Our school services many students who come to us from low-income families. Years ago we had some very rough kids with severe behavioral problems and a low school climate which earned our school a negative reputation in our community.
Today, our school is the best middle school in the district.
Our school climate has never been higher (within the staff and student population) and our behavior referrals are at an all time low. I want to reward our students for their hard work and good decision making but unfortunately without the funds, it is difficult to celebrate our students.
My Project
In the light of Covid-19 we have all been working hard to find ways to make working from a computer screen easier. It has been a particular struggle for math and while we have definitely found ways to work around it, nothing beats pen and paper.
That is when I came across the rocketbook fusion notebooks!
Not only are they reusable so that we can assign them to students year after year without waste, but they have a QR code on each page that either we or the student can scan so we can access their work digitally! This way students can work through a math problem on paper, and we can see their work every step of the way, even if they are not right in front of us!
When we are back in the classroom these will also be a great tool because students will be able to work on them and instead of making them come up to the board to show their work or put them on display, we can scan their page right from their desk and project it for the other students to see! I cannot wait to use this product with my middle schoolers!
