Help me give my students their own individual materials and space to store them to help keep them safe during while returning to school during the Covid-19 Pandemic.
I teach in a substantially separate pre-k special education classroom. My students are 3 and 4 year olds with autism or other disabilities who benefit from an applied behavior analysis- based classroom. They are curious, busy, students who have many diverse needs in the classroom including specific sensory, visual, communication, self regulation, and readiness needs.
In this classroom, my students work on a variety of skills daily including communication, self-regulation, readiness, and academic skills.
They are working to engage with each other and with their communities and are learning how to be members of our school community.
My Project
These materials will be used to help make sure each student will have access to individual school supplies and that these supplies will be kept in individual storage containers for each student. These bins will help minimize sharing of materials throughout the Covid-19 pandemic and keep our classroom organized and safe. Laminating pouches will be used to create individual communication boards and visuals for each student to use and storage bins will be used to hold each student's work materials and play materials in the classroom.
These supplies will help ensure each student will have access to the materials they need to ensure learning safely during this time.
Having individual materials for students will also ensure that sensory toys and materials can be sent home for students who will continue to learn remotely this year.
