This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are special because they blossom with imagination. I work in an inner-city school system with students whose eyes light up when they are learning computer science. I teach Pre-k - 8 digital literacy and computer science .

Do you remember when you were younger and you would tinker with everything?

You may have built something in your basement or taken apart something because you were curious about what it did. I want to give that opportunity to my students. All students should have the opportunity to be the next innovator. You never know who is going to create the next new piece of technology. It could be a 10-year-old kid.

My Project

My hope is to use this with an amazing 8th grade class. I want to teach them how to program video games,but want to add another level to it than just an online game. These items allow the students to create games and then download them onto these devices so they can play them. It is great to teach students about coding, but for them to be able to play it on a controller adds a whole other level of understanding how coding works. My hope is to use the design thinking process to have students code a game that would be for social good.
