This project is supporting high school students with a variety disabilities and health needs. This will help impact students in our Forum classes, which is a resource Study Hall that focuses on good academic habits. We have a short lesson and the rest of the time is a study hall.
Our town is a great, cozy community and we thrive on the support of our families.
We currently have a “bookcase” in class, but it’s very old, covered in graffiti, covered with labels that can’t be removed, has weird garage-door like covers on each shelf, and also has a short height between shelves so textbooks cannot stand upright, so it’s hard to grab books.
While we are grateful to have this, especially because they are so expensive to replace, it’s inconvenient for students and we would just love the classroom to feel cohesive and comfortable for ease of student learning. We also use this shelf as a divider in the classroom to separate some quiet study space, so to have one that is aesthetically pleasing all around would be great!
My Project
As weird as it seems, having cohesion, ease of access, and simplicity in a classroom can change a whole attitude in a student. By getting this bookcase, which is sturdy, metal, and black, it will create a simpler and cleaner separation of space in our Forum class. Not only will it give a more aesthetically pleasing line of separation in our room, it will give us an easy to access place to put all of our textbooks.
While we have an aged bookcase already, it is shabby and inconvenient for what we need.
We are looking to create a comfortable environment for our students to study and learn in.
