Our school exists to help at-risk students who are on the verge of dropping out of high school stay in school. We offer flexible schedules and small class sizes that make learning accessible to students who struggle to connect with material in a traditional classroom or school because of homelessness, bullying, serious illness, parenthood, supporting their families or facing other challenging personal circumstances. We believe that all youth, no matter their personal circumstances, have the abilities to go anywhere that their dreams lead them, but these abilities must be fostered by meaningful educational and professional development opportunities. Our schools provide these opportunities, ignite hope and serve as a starting point for students’ journeys toward lifetime success and achievement.
When our students are taught social and emotional health and well-being, it makes for a complete student, a well-rounded student who can go out into the world of work and be a productive member of society and help create positive change.
Personally, I have been on a major healing journey for years and I have found yoga and meditation to be the ultimate act of self-care. Breathe For Change is designed specifically for educators and community leaders who are inspired to use wellness, social-emotional learning, and yoga as vehicles for healing and social change.
My goal is to teach and guide students to build and enhance their physical and mental health by creating an environment that embraces self-care techniques like yoga and meditation.
Our goal will be to reduce stress and anxiety, improve concentration, and help build emotional strength. Through this comprehensive training, I will become equipped and empowered to teach inclusive and trauma-informed yoga classes to my students, as well as design and facilitate wellness and social-emotional learning workshops.
Upon completion of this training, I will receive the Breathe For Change Social-Emotional Learning Facilitator (SEL*F) Certification and a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Certification (CYT 200).
The Breathe For Change curriculum integrates wellness, yoga, and social-emotional learning practices into a transformational curricular progression designed specifically for education. The Social-Emotional Learning and Facilitation (SEL*F) curriculum is aligned to the nationally-recognized CASEL competencies, and equips educators and leaders to live, breathe, and embody these competencies in their daily lives and teaching.
