Restorative Practice Circles led by BuffSci High School Students
My students need reference tools/books to use and share with our school community as they learn the power of Restorative Practices, specifically student led Restorative Circles.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Training in Restorative Practices provide our High School students with references, tools, and exprerienc to expand Restorative Practices to their classrooms, school, family and community. Restorative Practice Circles led by high school students identify problems experienced while developing solution(s) as they engage students, teachers, administrators, family, and their community.
Restorative Practices initiated at our Buffalo High School during the 2017-2018 academic year produced significant improvements in school climate, including but not limited to increased attendance, decrease of misbehaviors thereby decreasing detentions, suspensions and expulsions.
My Project
Empowering high school students by strengthening their belief that they can impact future policy with voice and vote, within their school and community. BuffSci students have shown their commitment to affecting policy on gun control, school and community violence and have organizied and participatiting in our Stop the Killing: School Gun Violence Forum (May 22, 2018) and the National Walkout Day (April 20, 2018).
Restorative Practice Circles provide students the opportunity and forum to identify problems, find solutions and participate in future policy within school and community.
Books choosen provide our high school community with references and tools to develop student led Restorative Practice Circles to impact the future.
