Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

The students I remediate in Reading have to work twice as hard as their peers to accomplish the same goals. Even though reading and spelling is very difficult for them, they always come willingly to group with a smile on their face! Each day, they can earn a sticker if they participate and focus during our sessions. Once they earn 5 stickers, they get to visit the treasure box to pick out a reward.

I see about 30 students a day, so our treasure box is running low.

I asked the current students I see what they would like to see in the treasure box, and they told me: slime lickers, fidgets, candy, erasers, and Takis! I am trying to honor their requests to stock the treasure box with their favorites as a reward for all of the hard work they put in with me each and every day.
