My 2nd grade class this year consists of twentu-four eager learners. I am in a suburban school that does not receive funding from other programs like Title I, making our school budget tight. Many of our supplies are donated by our PTA or purchased out of my own pocket.
Despite being in a suburban school, my students come from a variety of backgrounds.
While many come from privileged backgrounds, many do not. There are students with family serving in the military, students who are English Language Learners, and many more. We are a diverse group of learners. I hope to create an environment that my students can be actively engaged in, and learn not only 2nd grade standards, but life skills, too!
My Project
Over the course of the year, with 24+ students using communal supplies, they get worn out and used up! All of the materials are used across our curriculum, throughout the day. The markers we are currently using are starting to dry up, so I will use the large boxes of markers to replace any needed markers this year, but there are plenty to use for fresh markers next year, too! Same goes for the boxes of crayons. The folders will be used for homework folders with sheet protects to hold our behavior charts and homework and reading logs. The glue sticks, dry erase markers and pencils will also help replace used up supplies this year and any leftovers can be saved for next year. The pocket folders will be used for our portfolios so we can showcase our work at the end of the year!
All of the supplies in the project will be used to help my students finish this year strong by replacing worn out supplies, but they will also help kick-start my classroom next year!
Thank you for considering a donation to my project for some much needed replacement supplies!
