Help me give my students supplies. I do not want any students to go without basic needs (or have to be embarrassed about asking.) So, I have a supply closet with personal hygiene products, snacks, and supplies.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are passionate about their chosen discipline of theater, creative writing, dance, music, or visual arts. They are talented and excited to attend school on a daily basis. I love their excitement, creativity, and energy. I am charged with teaching math to these very artistic students. Every day is different and interesting. This makes me eager to go to work.
Though these students are talented and creative kids, they sometimes lack some basic necessities for learning.
Every year I try to provide for these needs so that students can concentrate on developing their talents.
My Project
If there is one thing that this pandemic teaches us, students need more than just the material in the textbook. They come to school with social, emotional, and physical needs. Teachers provide for these needs for all students. Your contribution will help me prepare for students to come back into my classroom in the fall.
Students should not be worried about finding pads and tampons, deodorant, a snack, or a pencil.
I want them to focus on learning and creating. If they know they can count on the supply closet, the class runs much better. Students are more focused, creative, and engage in in-class activities.
