Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a bilingual pre-kindergarten classroom in an industrial suburb of Houston. My students are English language learners in a Title I school in which more than ninety-five percent of students receive free or reduced-price lunch. I want to help my students develop and grow as much as possible during the time they are in my class.
My students learn best through play and hands-on experiences.
Most importantly my students are delightful and loving people who come to school excited and ready to learn. It is important for me to get them the resources they need to be the best learners they can be. I know that with a little support, my students will thrive.
My Project
I want to have a wide variety of art supplies ready for my very creative pre-k students when we start school again in the fall. We need to restock favorite items such as the paint and the play dough. I would like to use the collage trays as individual workspaces and to hold collage items. Students will enjoy using the regular and crinkle cut scissors to create paper projects.
Children love to explore with a wide variety of items in the art center.
Pre-K students learn best with concrete, hands-on activities. As children create free art pieces, they develop creative critical thinking skills that will help them be successful in school and beyond.
