My sweet second graders live in Idaho. Our school has 525 students with 18 of them belonging to my regular classroom. These students come from a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds and academic abilities. In addition, 12 other students visit my classroom for reading intervention during the day, and 15 other students attend my math group for below/near grade level instruction.
My students love to interact and show what they know!
Like most 8 year olds, they like to laugh with each other and be creative. They enjoy games, projects, and being active.
My Project
Our classroom currently has two standing desks. These are great for restless kids but can also be tiring for legs after awhile. Stools to lean against would allow for several children to gather around the desks for longer periods of collaboration for projects and educational games.
Elevating students by having them sit on stools to share reports or read stories at the front of the classroom causes the rest of the class to look upward and pay closer attention.
Any of these requested items could be used to benefit our room in this way.
We also have an adjustable height table which is amazing for presenting science experiments and modeling activities. However, adjustable height stools are needed if students are to use the table for learning stations or quiet work spaces.
Thank you for helping to provide this specialized seating to improve our focus and longevity during teamwork and presentations!
