My Students

This project is to help buy new rest mats for my students for next year. Our mats are over 16 years old and most need to be replaced. With the health situation we are currently experiencing, I’d like to buy new mats to start fresh for my little loves.

The students in my classroom qualify as low income students as I teach the Title 1 VPK.

Most of these families struggle to meet basic needs.

My Project

Rest time gives my 4 & 5 year old students time to relax and process new information before the second part of the day. There is a wealth of new learning happening in VPK!

Studies by Sleep.org state most 4 year olds need 10-12 hours of sleep a day.

In our program, we seek to provide whatever our students need for maximum academic gain.

Many of these students ride a bus for an hour each way to and from school in addition to the 7.5 hour day. This makes for a very long day for our youngest learners. Rest time gives them the down time needed to keep them ready to learn.
