Help me give my students slap bracelets, pencil fidgets, cards, Captain Underpants books, slime, and various other trinkets for our class store to support financial literacy.
I work in a Title I school where 70% of our students receive free or reduced-price lunch. Several of them come to school ready to just be loved and shown that you care for them. They will work so hard just for attention and talk time.
I strive to make my class feel more like a family and help them learn to come together as a team.
It is so rewarding to watch how excited they get when they are able to help one of their brothers or sisters through one of their problems.
My Project
This will be my 3rd year using a class store to help promote financial literacy. It has been very successful each year for several different reasons. The biggest reason I love doing this is it teaches my students how to save money. They can earn and lose money for various things, and have to keep up with their money in their bank.
This year though I have 3 classes that rotate through and will be shopping in my store so to help it run effectively for 60 students I am in need of more store items.
I am really wanting to start adding books into my store as well to promote more reading so the Captain Underpants books will help there. I know the slap bracelets and slime are a big hit right now amongst the kiddos and would love to add those to help incentivize students to earn more money. The emoji clip pillows will be one of the larger items that will be used to encourage students to also not spend all of their money right away, but maybe save some for a bigger item later on. I know that all of these items will be a huge hit in my class store and will allow me to keep it running smoothly for a while with 60 students coming through.
