My students need adaptive equipment for dolls, diverse people for blocks, and puzzles showing all kinds of families to help them learn to respect people's differences.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The pre-k program at our school helps students prepare for kindergarten who might otherwise struggle. All students selected for this program are from low-income families, and for many of our students, it is their first experience in an English-only setting.
We know that all our students are capable of great things.
All of our students grow and accomplish so much in one school year; it is astounding! This year in pre-k will give them a better opportunity to be successful when they start kindergarten.
My Project
My students come from a variety of ethnicities, family structures, and abilities. These materials were also chosen to represent these varieties. People of different races can all be a family in the block area. Dolls can wear glasses or use a wheelchair in dramatic play. Students can assemble puzzles that show different types of families.
I want to ensure that all of my students feel welcomed, valued, and respected.
These materials will help my students in several ways. They will be able to recognize and role-play familiar situations with materials that look like they do. These tools will also provide a way for my student to explore and discuss differences is a safe, open atmosphere. These tools will provide opportunities for children to learn to respect and appreciate differences between people.
