My Students
Thank you for choosing to view my project. I am a Special Education teacher. I teach students in grades Pre-K through 3rd in a low-income/high poverty urban school. My students struggle to meet daily needs due to limited resources at home.
Even during their struggles, they are highly motivated and eager to learn.
They come to school hungry, tired, and their clothes are not always clean. We have a washer and dryer at school and assist them when they are in need. We have a backpack program that sends food weekly to these students to ensure they have something to eat. They are desperate for attention and just want to be loved.
My Project
Please consider funding our project. My students are in need of resources and materials to help them be successful during this pandemic. Due to Covid, many of my student's parents have lost their jobs, and are unable to provide school supplies such as crayons, glue sticks, and pencils. We use these daily so this grant would help my class tremendously. I teach special education, and many of my students are struggling with self-help and life skills they use daily. I have requested a set of zip, snap, and button and also a set of buckle, lace, and tie to have these resources for my students to work on in class so they will learn to become more independent. The full length mirror will be used by my students to check themselves to make sure they are neat and tidy throughout the day. Due to Covid, our students have missed so much in person learning, and are behind in both reading and math. The Spin and Count to 20 and the Pop and Add to 20 will help my students increase their knowledge in math. The Lexmark toner I have requested will be used to print papers and information for my students and parents during our IEP meetings, and it will also be used to print and create work my students can use in class as well as at home when we have asynchronous learning due to Covid.
