My Students

My students are students with emotional disabilities (ED). Many of them have experienced trauma in their lives and have difficulty coming to school. The typical student in my class reads a significantly below grade level. Some even read at the Pre-primer grade level. The majority of my students are of diverse ethnic backgrounds. Our classes support a significant percentage of the schools English Language Learners. The opportunity and achievement gaps are apparent among our student population. Our department does not receive any special funding to help support our kids. Special education teachers are expected to deliver excellent instruction in science, math, English, and history without the requisite tools to teach our students.

My Project

My students all come to me with a variety of learning challenges. My job is to provide them with a high quality of education while meeting their individual needs. Having access to technology will allow me to differentiate work for them. The TI-30XS calculators that I am requesting for my students will level the playing field. My students come to school without the necessities to learn. They are unable to afford to buy the materials needed to help with organization. We just need your help in getting everything through our door! We will use these calculators to aid us in the process of becoming life-long learners. I truly need your support to make this a reality. Thanks!
