My Students
GPA is a K-6 Dual Language Elementary housed within IPS. Our school was created through the Innovation School partnership with IPS. The mission of GPA K-6 is to provide tomorrow’s leaders and global citizens with the highest quality of instruction through language immersion and experiential learning that is culturally relevant. In a highly engaging and nurturing environment, native English speakers and native Spanish speakers will learn to speak, read, and write proficiently in both languages. We serve over 600 students in grades Pre-K to 6.
My Project
Art supplies, crayons, markers, and coloring pencils are essential materials used for allowing students to creatively self-express themselves. These items can also be used as a comforting methods for the students.
Materials like kinetic sand and Play Dough will be the bread and butter tool used to soothe and calm our students down when they have been removed from class for various behavior concerns.
The sand allows students to deescalate and get to a level of comfort where they are able to use their words to express how they are feeling.
Wipe & write lapboards and dry erase markers will be used to help with group learning activities. Students will be able to participate with the school counselor in focused individuals and group counseling activities.
