Help me give my students resources and things that they need to help them learn. The brain and eye models are for AP Psych. These models will give them a hands on example of critical concepts.
My students are from a small rural community and are economically disadvantaged. Many of them are trying to be the first in their family that go into secondary education. They are hard workers, want to learn, and many are trying to overcome obstacles in their home life. The district is supportive but there is only so much allotted for our budgets.
My students are the reason I come to teach everyday.
For many of them, this school is a sanctuary from the rest of their lives. They come with a positive attitude and a drive to learn and better themselves.
My Project
This project is split up into two categories. The first is furniture and storage. These will help the students be more comfortable and relaxed in my small classroom. The cabinet is their to help with organization. The charger is because I don't allow students to have phones on them in class. Currently, i have a phone holder for phones, but they have asked for a charging station numerous times. The space heater is because I often get complaints from students that my room is too cold.
My AP Psych class is an opportunity for students to earn college credit and alleviate some of the stress that they have about paying for college.
Many of the students are from low income families. The resources that I can get for that class help them learn the critical concepts and better prepare them for their AP Test. Which, when they pass, will allow them to earn college credit.
