Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Studies show that students who engage in free play during recess time perform better in the classroom. Please help our students by bringing more materials to their recesses.
Despite some of the hardships our students have faced, they are a very caring bunch and I would love for them to see that other people (some they don't even know) care about them, too!
Many of our students do not have access to team sports or other organized activities after school.
My Project
These materials will allow students to work cooperatively while engaging in exercise-based activities during their recess breaks. With these materials, even our youngest students will be able to improve their coordination and teamwork skills. The hula hoops, balls, and skippers will allow many more students to engage in appropriate recess activities, while minimizing behavior issues.
This project will encourage more students to be active during recess times, which will lead to increased performance in the classroom.
Studies have proven that students who are able to move and wiggle throughout the day are able to better focus within the classroom. We hope to bring this increased attention span to a population of students who would greatly benefit.
