Help me give my students earbuds to use in our computer lab, fidget bands to improve focus, lights for volume control, and color posters for reference every day!
I teach in a Kindergarten classroom where the majority of students come from a low socio-economic background. Many have difficult home lives and when they first come to school their exposure to materials and experiences is very low. With this age group of 5-6 years old, their attention span is very short and their ability to sit and focus is limited. With the purchase of the fidget bands, I will be giving my students an alternative positive way to exert their extra energy while staying focused on the lesson. The earbuds will be used in the computer lab, the lights for volume control, and the color posters for everyday reference.
My Project
I am requesting a variety of items for my classroom this upcoming school year. The items are earbuds, fidget bands, color posters, and push lights.
Each one of these items will benefit students and the classroom environment differently.
The earbuds will be used in our computer lab where currently 65 students are expected to share about 20 pairs of headphones all at the same time. The earbuds would allow us to be in the computer lab with other classes at the same time.
The fidget bands wrap around the bottom of students' chairs and whenever they are losing focus they can push and "fidget" with the band instead of rising from their seat or causing disruption.
The color words and posters will serve as part of a word wall and will be posted for student reference daily.
The push lights will be used for student volume management while working. The lights allow students to see what volume of voice is appropriate at what time. The book is just a great book to read on the first day of school to help the students relate their feelings to someone else!
