Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Pre-k is an interesting grade because of the huge transitions that they have to face between the setting of home and school. I think this is the period were is more evident and faster the transformation of education in the child. That gives an enormous responsibility to the teacher to develop a nursing environment that produces the feeling of security and love needed in this stage.
My 18 Pre-K students love to learn about the world through movement and exploration but we are having a difficult time doing our normal classroom cycles.
Our school is in Dallas and we passed for a recent moved in October because the tornado destroyed our previous building. Now we are trying to retake our routine in new circumstances that present challenges and teach us to be resilient in this situation.
My Project
My project is based on getting learning materials that will help students to acquire knowledge in the following content areas: math, language, science, and Social-emotional interaction, that allow them to have grown into the classroom setting and have them the preparation needed for being successful in kindergarten.
My lesson plan is based on student-centered using differentiation and small groups to assure to deliver comprehensive instruction in Language and communication, phonological awareness, vocabulary, reading and writing to each one.
With these materials, my Pre-k students will be exposed to experiences that allow then to have hand-on activities and opportunities to learn throughout exploration promoting curiosity and initiative.
