Researching in Hopes of Finding Cures--Future MD's
My students need three DNA Replications and Transcriptions sets; two 4-D Cell Anatomy models; 1 lab software, and 3 BioSigns packs to research more about the DNA of the human body; they want to find cures for diseases.
This class is eager and willing to learn. They want to be challenged as much as possible. These students are our future doctors, scientists, nurses, and leaders of tomorrow. These students want to make a significant difference in the lives of other people.
These students are in a low socioeconomic school where 64% are on free and reduced lunch.
These students represent Napal, France, Ireland, Germany, Mexico, Vietnam, Ghana, the U.S.A., and Buton Indonesia. This is a group of 28 students that have a burning desire to learn as much as they can. Some students come knowing very little English but want to be like sponges and absorb as much as they can. The gifted students seek to be challenged even more. This is a third grade class but some of these students are reading on a ninth grade level. Some of these students want to do research now to try to help find a cure for Ebola, a cure for Lewby Body Dementia, and a cure for asthma.
My Project
My students want to look at the DNA models and see where the links are that are causing these diseases. I am requesting three DNA Replications and Transcriptions sets; two 4-D Cell Anatomy models; lab software, and 3 BioSigns packs. With the requested materials, students will be able to research the specific areas that they believe could be the missing link to finding a cure. The students will learn more about the double strand polymer and how DNA can control RNA. Students want to study the double helix to learn how the DNA forms themselves. My students want to learn how germs eat cells and how they survive. The students want to learn about cell diversity and the structure of the generalized cell. This will also allow them to study the plasma membranes. This will also assist them in learning about the effect of solutions of varying tonocites on living red blood cells.
This project would give the students the opportunity to use the exploratory method of research and inable them to study Anatomy and Physiology through the use of hands-on models.
These models will help them explore the cells and DNA of the human body, plants, and animals.
