This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Even though I've been a classroom teacher for more than 15 years I always have new projects to continue to improve the educational experience for my students. This year one of my projects is updating my classroom library to include a greater variety of books.

Books can serve as mirrors and windows for students.

The books in our classroom should reflect the students' own experiences and introduce them to the experiences of others that may be very different from their own. By adding more diverse books and continuing to do so more students will be able to find themselves within the pages of books. More students will be able to learn about and be more compassionate towards the experiences of others.
